Introduction:
For this project, we were tasked with converting a form of energy into another, more useful form. My group eventually decided to focus on a lemon as the beginning of this energy change. There were several ideas about what do do with one or more of these lemons. We had the original goal of lighting a fire with electricity power from the lemon, but changed the end goal to be an LED after testing.
Concepts:
Reduction: A reaction that occurs between a relatively reactive metal and a electrolyte. We used this concept to understand how the flow of electricity began and continued.
Oxidization: A reaction that occurs between a relatively inactive metal and, in this case, two electrons. We used this concept to understand the flow of electricity within our device.
Anode: The positive terminal of a battery and where oxidization occurs. We used this concept to understand the oxidization and reduction cycle with the context of electron flow.
Cathode: The negative terminal of a battery and where reduction occurs. We used this concept to gain insight on the reduction and oxidization cycle in the production of electricity.
Chemical Potential Energy: The potential energy stored within the bond of molecules. Breaking these bonds releases the energy while forming bonds forms chemical potential energy. We used chemical potential energy to explain the source of the electricity within the project.
Electrical Energy: The movement of electrons through a material. We used the concept of electrical energy to understand parts of the energy transfers occurring within our device.
Heat: The flow of kinetic energy between two objects. We used the concept of heat to explain the loss of energy within the system of our device.
Light: The excitement of photons that reflects off of most objects. This stimulates the eye and allows for vision. We used light
as an explanation of the final product.

Reflection:
This project did have points at which it could have gone better. My work ethic at certain points did not help further the project. One to two days had limited progress towards the goal and this may have led to the switch in end goals. In an attempt to fix this issue, I will create a specific schedule to adhere to in the future. My empathy was not as good as it could have been. I tended to not approve of others' ideas as much as my own. To fix this, I will prioritize the ideas of other instead of mine.
Other sections of the project went well. I was able to cooperate and collaborate well with the group I was assigned to for the project once ideas were decided upon. When we stalled in one place, we were able to divide tasks to solve other problems while still making progress towards the original issue. I additionally gained more experience within the field of critical thinking through setting up and performing scientific tests with specific goals in mind. This was primarily the case when testing potential upgrades for the lemon itself and the improvements are apparent within our results.
